Making your courses

A course contains all your lessons for the school year

If you have Schoology

  • This option works well if you don’t have split rosters, and if in each Schoology course, all sections share the same lessons.
  • Log in to your SKIES account.
  • On the upper-right corner of the page, click “Signed in as …”, and select Schoology.
  • Give approval for SKIES to connect to your Schoology account.
  • Go through your courses, and click on the blue switches to turn off any you won’t be using with SKIES (e.g. Sandbox courses).
  • On the upper-left corner of the page, click “Courses.”
  • That’s it! You’re ready to go.

Otherwise, if you’re a multi-subject teacher with one class

  • This option is used by elementary teachers, and sometimes by middle school teachers.
  • Log in to your SKIES account.
  • Select the “Teacher” tab, and click “Make new course.”
  • For the title, name your course something like “1st grade.”
  • Scroll to the bottom and click “Save.”

Otherwise, if you’re a single-subject teacher with multiple periods

  • This option is used by high school teachers, and sometimes by middle school teachers.
  • Log in to your SKIES account.
  • Select the “Teacher” tab, and click “Make new course.”
  • For the title, name your course something like “Science” or “AP Chemistry.”
  • Under Classes, type in the first period you teach that subject, e.g. “Period 1.”
  • Click “Add another class” to add more periods that use the same lessons.
  • Scroll to the bottom and click “Save.”
  • Repeat for any other subjects you teach.
